Change Display Order Of Projects

When expaning the Projects dropdown, the projects are displayed in order of when they were created. Is there a way to change the order to be, for example, alphabetical?

Hi and welcome to the Testiny forum!

Thank you for your feedback. Currently, there is no way to configure the project dropdown. However, we recognize the need for better handling of numerous projects and are planning to introduce solutions, including potentially custom sorting. A major overhaul of our project dropdown is on our roadmap.

There is no scheduled date for these updates yet, but the more votes this topic receives, the sooner we will address it.

Summary

Enhance the project selection dropdown to improve usability and efficiency when working with a large number of projects.

Current Behavior

  • Projects are listed in a fixed order

  • No ability to mark frequently used projects

  • No search or filtering functionality

  • Navigation becomes slow and cumbersome when many projects exist

Requested Improvements

I would like to request several enhancements to the project dropdown:

  1. Alphabetical Sorting

    • Users should be able to sort projects alphabetically to easily locate a project.
  2. Favorite Projects :star:

    • Add a star icon to each project to let users mark frequently used projects as favorites.

    • Favorited projects appear at the top of the list.

  3. Filtering by Input Field :magnifying_glass_tilted_left:

    • Implement a search/filter box to instantly narrow down the list based on user input.
  4. Clear Visual Separation

    • A horizontal divider between “Favorites” and “All Projects” to visually group the sections.

User Benefit

These improvements would significantly reduce the time required to find and switch between projects.
The project dropdown becomes:

:white_check_mark: Faster to navigate
:white_check_mark: More personalized
:white_check_mark: Scalable for large project lists

Mockups

Attached you will find two indicative visuals showing:

  • Current state (anonymized)

  • Proposed solution including favorites, sorting, and filtering

On top of the suggestions by Alan and Steven I would also like to suggest the option of manual sorting. Maybe a drag and drop method similar to how Jira works.

I would like to order the projects from current to legacy, and also group similar projects (products in our case) together.

Welcome to the Testiny forum and thank you very much for your suggestion!
I moved this post here to have combined votes for this topic.
