Created defect in issue tracker (Redmine, Jira): Comments can't be matched to their steps

1 - What is it about

When creating a defect in an integrated issue tracker (here tested with Redmine and Jira), comments that have been added to the steps can be added to the description. In the description that is added to the new issue, the comments are attached at the end in a seemlingly random order and can’t be matched to their respective steps.

2 - Steps to reproduce

Set up test case with template “Steps” in a project with Redmine / Jira integration. Add two or more steps. Add test case to test run. Add comments per step. Create defect and select the options “Add test steps to description” and “Add comments to description”. Select “Create”.

3 - Expected result

In the description, comments per test step can be matched to their respective steps.

4 - Actual result

In the description that is added to the new issue, the comments are attached at the end in a seemlingly random order and can’t be matched to their respective steps.

5 - Error logs and or visual proof

Hi and welcome to the Testiny forum!

We already have a feature request in our roadmap that we should indicate for comments which steps they belong to. Your request and your votes influence when this feature will be implemented. Thank you!

If somebody reads this request and would also like to have this feature, make sure to vote for this topic. We do consider the number of votes for feature requests in our roadmap and priority planning.

Best regards,
Alex
