3 - Steps to reproduce

  • Import a TestRail test case with “Steps” template to Testiny

4 - Expected result
The test case is imported properly with “Steps” template

5 - Actual result
The test case is imported with “Text” template When you change the template on Testiny to Steps this results in losing all the data on the text field.

Thanks for your feedback!

The Testiny importer should actually be able to handle both the TestRail “Steps” and “Text” templates, but it only imports one. I.e. if the “Steps” template is used in TestRail for a test case, it takes precedence over any data in the “Text” template/field in the respective test case.

Could you share the file TestRail XML export file that you have trouble importing? Then I can take a deeper look into the problem.
The easiest way to do so is trying to import it in Testiny and then clicking on the “Get assistance…” link, which will then ask you whether you want to send us the file.

Thanks for the file you sent us! With it, we could reproduce the issue you mentioned.
The issue should be fixed in the upcoming v1.8.2 release, so please hang on for a few more days :slightly_smiling_face:
