Hello!
I would love to have the ability to control the default fields in my Testiny suite—specifically, the template field. Our company standard is to use the “steps” option under template, so we would like to be able to remove the “text “option. With that, we would also like to be able to set the template field to required, as we can do with all of our other fields. This would ensure consistency and reliability across all of our test cases.
Best,
Cody

Welcome to the Testiny forum and thank you for your feedback!
This may fit to a feature on our roadmap we title “Test case templates” (also see this associated feature request), where you would be able to further customize the fields shown for test cases.
It’s currently still more an idea than a fully designed feature, but I will link this request to it.
If somebody reads this request and would also like to have this feature, make sure to vote for this topic. We do consider the number of votes for feature requests in our roadmap and priority planning.
Best regards,
Alex
Note regarding importing of test cases and the template more (“steps” vs “text”), posted as a comment:
The importer does not differentiate whether to use “steps” or “text” template depending on an input field value, but according to the corresponding import setting, see here:
This is because the test case importer is primarily intended to import test cases from non-Testiny sources and those may not have a field to decide the template.
Best regards,
Alex
Hi, the other day I exported test cases, bulk edit them and wanted to imported them back. Import does not handle template type and by default takes step. AND step we do not use, we use TEXT. Hopefully this will be solved as well. BR, Darja
