Map TestRail's test case ID to a custom field when importing an XML

Hey team, I’m trying to import an XML and save the original test case ID in a custom field for traceability purposes. I see in the docs screenshot that the testcase_id is supposed to be available to select, but when I try to import the file using the wizard the field doens’t show up. Is that something you removed from the importer? It does show up when using the CVS format but in that case I loose the folders structure. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the Testiny forum!

You are right, the “testcase_id” from TestRail import files is currently not available when importing using XML files. Good catch, we will add that with the next feature release

Until then (so probably just a few weeks), you need to stick with CSV files in that case, sorry!
The folder structure should actually also work with CSV files if the CSV file and the folder data in it is correctly structured.
You can also send us the file, then we can have a look. Thanks!

Alex

Hi,

The “testcase_id" should now also be available when importing using the TestRail XML (since v1.10.0).
