Linking Jira Requirements in Test Case CSV Upload

Would it be possible to add support for uploading Jira requirements in the test case CSV upload?

It would be useful to be able to include the Jira issue key/keys for each test case in the CSV when I upload my test cases to a Testiny project, as although it’s a really useful feature, adding them one at a time can be very time-intensive, especially in a larger test script!

I have 20 cases all linked to the same Jira Ticket, having to link these all individually is extremely painful :sob:

Hi and welcome to the Testiny forum!

Thanks for your feedback!

Could you just elaborate a bit more on you use case please? E.g.

  • do you import test cases from a different tool?
  • do you also import test results to a test run (or just test cases)?
  • are the issues all from the same Jira project?
  • your workflow if possible

The TestRail API importer already has a similar feature where you select the Jira integration in Testiny and then the importer tries to match “references” to Jira issues in the specified Jira project.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Alex

Hi @Alex_Hoisl!

For my test scripts, test cases are written within Google Sheets and exported as a CSV. When uploading test cases to a Testiny project, I use the CSV upload within the Testiny Import Wizard, and map each column to the appropriate fields.

This is where I believe it would be useful to have the option to link Jira requirements to a test case, in the same way that you have mentioned the TestRail API does, where the importer matches issue references from a designated column (e.g., “References”) to Jira issues.

I don’t import test results, only test cases. All the Jira requirements I would be looking to link to test cases from within a CSV upload would be from the same Jira project.

Please let me know if you would like any more information!

Best wishes,
Georga
